The Secret Waterfall Trail in Halifax is a short and peaceful walking trail that is ideal for anyone looking for an easy hike with natural scenery. The full trail is around 5.5 km, making it suitable for beginners, families, or anyone who wants a relaxed walk close to nature.
This trail is known for its hidden waterfall, which you reach quite early in the walk.
Parking and Trail Start
We parked our car on the roadside near the trail entrance, which was simple and convenient. There is no official car park, but roadside parking is commonly used by visitors.
The trail starts gently and is easy to follow from the beginning.
Walk to the Waterfall
One of the main highlights of the Secret Waterfall Trail is how quickly you reach the waterfall. It is located at around 1 km from the start, so you don’t need to walk far to see it.
The path to the waterfall goes through a wooded area, and as you get closer, you can hear the sound of running water. The waterfall itself is small but calm and peaceful, making it a good place to stop and take a short break.
Continuing the Trail After the Waterfall
Many people turn back after visiting the waterfall, but the trail continues and is worth completing.
After the waterfall, the scenery changes from forest to open farmland. This section feels wider and more open, with views across fields. During our walk, we saw sheep and horses grazing nearby, which added to the rural feel of the trail.
There is a short section where the trail follows a road, but it is very brief and does not affect the overall walking experience. After this, the trail becomes quiet again and leads you back towards the starting point.
